Question : Problem: laptop keyboard writes numbers instead of some characters, ex. qwertzUIop --> qwertz48op...

it just started yesterday at a moment,
I have a q-keyboard, i.e. starting with qwertzuiop.. etc.
and suddenly I started getting some characters printed differently on the screen. qwertz4i8op etc.
U-->4, I-->8 ... you see.

what might be the issue?
I restarted the laptop and it worked fine for a moment. But today I faced the exactly same problem again, and restart did not help!

Drivers, BIOS, look fine. up to date.
I even let my computer remotely accessible via TeamViewer. I connected to my computer over Internet via this application, and started Notepad.exe: I could, remotely, press the correct characters, as expected, qwertzuiop..
so I assume this is not a software issue, but rather a hardware problem, related with the keyboard. not necessarily with the computer.

What do you think gurus?
I do not unfortunately have another keyboard to test. and it is Christmas nowadays. most of the shops closed.
what shall I do? What do you advice?

Thanks in advance,
merry Christmas....

Answer : Problem: laptop keyboard writes numbers instead of some characters, ex. qwertzUIop --> qwertz48op...

Do you mean a QWERTY( not qwertz) keyboard.
The indication that you get a combination of letters and number where the numlock numbers should be means the keyboard or the keyboard controller is faulty.
If the numlock was on it should read -->
`123456789*-=
qwerty456-[]\
asdfgh123+'
zxcvbn0,./

With numlock off it should read-->
`1234567890-=
asdfghjkl;'
zxcvbnm,./

Have you tried an external keyboard attached to the laptop, does it have the same issue. If not I would suspect the laptop keyboard need replacing.
