Question : Problem: Boot Disc will not work on one computer, but will work on 2 different ones.

I'm trying to start a program (Acronis TrueImage 8) from a bootable disc made in the Windows-version of that program. I have 2 desktops and 1 laptop. On one of the desktops it boots fine and on the laptop it boots fine. On the second desktop it doesn't boot completely.
It boots half way... that is I get the Acronis loading logo screen like always but after that the screen goes black and stays black. Normally (on the 2 working computers) it boots shows the logo screen and goes black for a couple seconds, then up pops the actual program, but on the non-working desktop it just stays black at that point.
I have two drives in the non-working computer, one is the CD/RW that came with it the other is a DVD-CD/RW that I bought three months ago.
I can boot some other CDs, for example yesterday I reinstalled Windows XP SP2 from the Bootable Windows installation CD, so I know it CAN boot, but don't know why it's not booting completely on the Acronis CD that works on the other two computers.
any ideas, thanks, David Gareau

it can be due to the CD or cd drive who are not completely compatible. you can try to make a copy of that cd, on this PC, and try again; or clean the lens. For the rest, that PC is working fine? otherwise, i would think of ram problems, or such
