Question : Problem: Windows Vista won't recognize a SATA drive.

I started installing Windows Vista on my desktop the other day, and had a brand-new SATA 400 gig drive I thought I'd try out.

I put the motherboard drivers on a floppy (as instructed by Seagate and Gigabyte) and started loading Windows Vista.

All went well until the installation stopped and said that I needed a location to install Vista.

I inserted the floppy with the motherboard SATA drivers and the install program said that they were not the right drivers.

I re-downloaded the board driver for the SATA from Gigabyte and the same thing happened.

I then went into the CMOS and after adjusting the SATA settings in all possible modes (Auto, Combined, Not Combined, etc.), the SATA was still not recognized.

Now, I saw a pre-install program from Seagate, but I don't want to make it a proprietary hard drive.  All I want is the Windows Vista setup to recognize the SATA drive.

HELP!!??
