Question : Problem: Epson C82 Status Monitor not working

The ink level monitoring portion of the software that comes with the Epson Stylus C82 inkjet printer is not working. I am running Windows XP and have connected the printer to my computer through the parallel port. I have tried the drivers that came with the printer on CD and downloaded drivers from Epsons web site; both yield the same results. Printing and all other printer utilities appear to be working fine. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem and here's how I fixed it:
Open the Printers folder in Control panel.
Double-click on the C82 to bring up the preferences dialog.
Click the Maintenance tab
Click the Status Monitor button
For mine, everything was unchecked by default. When I checked them the icon came up in the tray and everything is fine now.
