Question : Problem: Adding new HD to DL380 using Raid 5

I have HP server DL 380 running on Raid 5 with three Hard Disk 36G and I want to upgrade the size of the Hard Disks so I will add to other hard disk on the server to be 5 Hard disks.

- Are the server will prepare them automaticly?
- Should those two hard disks be the same size of the old ones?
- is there is any Steps I should follow?
just I know I have to shift the old three HD and and the new two to be the first.

Answer : Problem: Adding new HD to DL380 using Raid 5

the usable capacity of a RAID 5 array is (N-1).Smin   where N is the total number of drives in the array and Smin is the capacity of the smallest drive in the array
So adding 2 x 300GB disks will give you (5-1)x36GB = 144GB
