Question : Problem: removable Storage service

On a windows 2000 server the removable Storage service will not start. Windows can see the tape drive but backupexec can not touch it.

please check that the drive is assigned Veritas as the others are mentioning here.
Use the wizard, Device check the remove all drives + plug and play, do it once more get your drive installed "this would be mentioned as the Tape install"

See if that works.
