Question : Problem: SMS deployment of VPN Client is not removing the old version
I Have been preparing an SMS rollout to remove an old Cisco VPN client (4.0.4) and install a new one (Cisco VPN AnyConnet). Once the rollout is completed SMS reports that it has succeeded (uninstall of old and install of new), but when checking a test PC both versions are now showing along side each other in the programs list and 'add/remove programs'.
I have tried uninstalling the old client on the test PC manually, with an identical batch file as the one used in the SMS deployment, and this does remove the client?
I use the following line in the batch file;
msiexec.exe /x "name_of_vpn_client" /qn allusers=1
Any ideas how to successfully remove to old client through SMS? This is the first time I have come accross SMS reporting incorrectly!
Answer : Problem: SMS deployment of VPN Client is not removing the old version
I can now see what has happened. I had selected the .msi rather than the batch file. So , the app was installing rather than uninstalling through the batch. Silly mistake. Thanks for the help.
