Is there any modem connect that disables the dialtone chacking?

Try adding X3 to your modem init string.  Or you can do it manually in a terminal window with AT X3.
Not every modem is the same, you may want to check your manual.  Usually the X commands deal with dial-tone, busy signal, and connect results.  If you don't have the manual, just try some different X commands(x,x0,x1,x2,x3,x4, etc).
