Question : Problem: File-copy error to external HDD
|
|
Hello,
I have a Western Digital "MyBook 500GB" USB 2.0 external hard drive attached to a server running Windows Server Small Business Server SP1. I have NTBackup configured to backup to a partition on the server. The whole backup job is around 23GB in size. The idea of the external HDD is to archive a copy of the backup at an off-site location.
I am unable to copy the backup file to the external HDD. The process errors with a "Parameter is incorrect" error message. I have contacted Western Digital regarding this issue, but they have not responded. This has been going on for a couple of months now. Aside of backing up to the external HDD itself, how could this be remedied? No files can be copied to the drive from Windows Explorer.
Thanks
/F

That's because your external hard drive is formated as FAT32 instead of NTFS. Reformat the Hard drive and you'll be fine.
