Question : Problem: dvd & cd/rw drives go undetected

Hi,

I recently installed windows 2000 server on my Compaq Presario 7478. This PC has a DVD drive and a CD RW drive. SOme times when the PC boots I see a message saying "The following configurations have been automatically updated" and I see my DVD drive and CD/RW drive listed in there. Only those times the PC detects those drives. Even then after sometime the drives disappear. SO those two drives are practically useless to me now.

Do I have to install any new drivers? What drivers would those be?

thanks!

Answer : Problem: dvd & cd/rw drives go undetected

Did you install the drivers for your motherboard from the installation CD or did you just use the 2000 drivers?
Are both drives on the same IDE Cable?
Are the Jumpers set correctly on both drives?
Can you describe your drive set ups? What is on Primary IDE Controller Secondary Controller Etc/

CD/RW and DVD Drives do not use Drivers
Have you tried just installing one drive at a time making sure the jumpers are correct?
